Pregnancy Physiotherapy

Some women may experience pain or physical issues during their pregnancy. Whilst these experiences can be quite common it’s important to note that they don’t just have to be tolerated; very often Physiotherapy can make a significant difference.

Specialist Women’s Pelvic Health Physiotherapists are equipped to thoroughly assess, diagnose and treat pelvic girdle pain, incontinence and other physical pregnancy related issues.

We are passionate about helping women to continue doing the things they love for as long as possible during their pregnancy.

Postnatal Physiotherapy

Many women recover very well after pregnancy and childbirth. It can also be common for some women to experience issues such as back, pelvic or perineal pain; or bladder or bowel problems such as urgency or incontinence.

Sometimes sex can be painful or women may have a sense that something is just not right in their pelvic floor. Some women may have concerns about their tummy or Diastasis Recti.

Sometimes women just want to know how best to optimise their postnatal well-being and may have questions about what may be beneficial or helpful for their body.

We can help you to navigate your postnatal journey by tailoring advice, recommendations, treatments and exercises to your own individual needs, requirements and goals.

The Mummy NCT

Our Postnatal Physiotherapy Check…The Mummy NCT!

Given the changes your body experiences through pregnancy and labour, it can be helpful and reassuring for some women to have access to a thorough and informative postnatal assessment. At Pilates Physiotherapy Cork we offer our ‘Mummy NCT’ for postnatal women.

From assessing the pelvic floor, the abdomen, bladder and bowel function, through to postural awareness, wellbeing, physical fitness and return to exercise postpartum, there is a lot that may be considered and discussed in our Mummy NCT; it all depends on what is important to you and what you would like to gain from your session.

We appreciate the realities of being a mother and recognise your individual goals as a woman. Our specialist Mummy NCT is designed to help postnatal women realise their potential and optimise their postnatal journey.
